Sun and Moon
so i may or may not have gotten attached to the two characters who starred in the first writing request eb gave me. so this is gonna be a thread thats all the stuff i make with them!! starting off with the short story request about them, and refs.
- Reference sheets:
- Sol:
Sol Flores is a 5'10 foot female who is half Mexican and half black. She is the 2nd youngest of 8 children, all born to her mother of different fathers. Her mother speaks Spanish exclusively, but Sol is bilingual and speaks English as well. She met Luna when the other came to the coffee shop for a latte, and they had a one night stand that resulted in them dating. After 3 years of being together, they got married in Las Vegas and Luna turned Sol into a vampire. Her name had been Sada, but she changed it to match Luna's and celebrate the sun, which she could no longer tolerate going out in. She runs a coffee shop called Celestial Coffee with Luna, and she is the barista who makes the drinks, gives out advice to their customers, and sits behind the counter reading romance novels. She smells of strong coffee with hints of vanilla.
- Luna:
Luna Albescu is a Romanian female over 200 years old and 5'5 exactly. She is bone thin, and speaks English with a heavy accent. She prefers Latin as her main language. She's been a vampire since she was 23, and she was changed by her fiancee, who she then killed along with her family for getting her killed and to cleanse her life of their bad influence. She runs the accounting side of Celestial Coffee, and she met Sol when she came in for a latte and ended up getting a girlfriend. She is like old-timey vampires, and she appears to be a hipster as she prefers older things. They're what she had been used to. She smells of musty old books and candles, as she reads and writes poetry full of purple prose by candlelight. She calls Sol her only sunshine.
- stories:
- Poetry night:
- If Sol wasn't already dead, this poetry would be killing her with laughter. The café smells strongly enough of coffee to make her sneeze, and her beautiful girlfriend is just as stoic as ever and reading what may be the worst poem in the world. It's sweet, and strokes Sol's oversized ego well, but dear fucking lord. If Luna wasn't so serious all the time, she would suspect it was ironic. Alas, she was born in a time period without humor or emotions (fucking nobility) and is the perfect horror vampire. Lestat would be proud.
"-my sunshine, don't take my sunshine away."
Luna finishes, and there's an eerie silence for a moment before the café riots with laughter. Oh hell no. She's allowed to laugh at the bad poetry if she wants, since it's /about her/, but these mortals? Had better not laugh at her sweetheart. It may not have been the best ever, but it had heart, and more emotion than Luna had shown in anything before. Sol is going to have to shank some bitches.
She rises, and even the humans with their weak senses can sense a dark aura around her in the few seconds before she snarls and rips off the nearest one's head. It makes a deliciously nasty tearing sound, and there's blood everywhere. Damn, now she's hungry again.
Luna is standing on the stage still, blinking at her as she tears through the cafe, alternately biting and clawing the soft humans. She drains one or two in her bloodlust, and within 5 minutes is standing there, splattered in vital fluids and panting. She gives Luna an embarrassed smile, blushing darkly.
The older vampire just sighs, and delicately licks off the blood that hit her cheek during Sol's rampage. "I could have taken care of it, dear. The opinions of mortals don't matter to me as long as /you/ like it."
Well, shit, how did you respond to that? The poems were terribly, frankly, but Luna isn't. She gives her a bright smile and takes a bow, bouncing up to the stage to pull her into a kiss. "I loved them, and I love you too. Write me some more!"
- butterflies:
a poem by luna
you metamorphse
like a butterfly
and your wings reflect the light
in spangled colors
of red and pink and yellow
like your flowers
roses of the same colors
matching your hair and heart
i love you
- At the club:
Sol is going to shank a bitch. She knows she says that a lot, but some mortal slut is hitting on Luna, and that is just not okay. stupid humans don't know what they're getting into.
She grabs Luna's wrist, pulling her away from the human with a snarl. Her darling just blinks, seemingly confused. Poor precious child. She may be a badass Romanian noble vampire, but she's not very good at dealing with humans and/or being hit on. You have to tell them no very firmly for them to get the point.
The girl who had been hitting on her scowls, wrinkling up her ugly face like a pig's. It's an accurate comparision. She's "tanned" pink like she's been boiled, and her hair is limp and straight. How could she think she would stand a single change with her lovely Luna?
Sol snaps her teeth at piggy, showing off her fangs, and she stumbles back. Bitch wasn't expecting that, was she? She twines her and Luna's fingers together, turning to go with one more growl. Once she's dragged Luna with her into the hallway by the club bathroom, she kisses her hard, only stopping to take a deep, shaky breath.
Luna is smiling, for some reason, and she stands on her tiptoes to kiss Sol's cheek, leaving a mark of black lipstick. "Thank you, love."
She is so very welcome.
- Sun:
- The only thing Sol misses about being human is the sun. She /could/ go out in in, but it would hurt like hell, burning her eyes. She might even go blind, and that just wouldn't do. She's rather fond of seeing colors. They're her favorite thing, besides Luna of course.
Luna compares her new super-senses to what the world is like when having a migraine. Sol wouldn't know about that, she's always been healthy, but she's sure her darling is right. Luna is often right, just giving that small smile-smirk she does so often. It always makes Sol want to punch her in the mouth. With her mouth.
The super-senses are likely because vamps are predators. They started many of the myths. With more powerful smell, garlic is enough to make her physically recoil, and the sun is just too bright. Nocturnal hunters it is.
She still misses the sun, though. To honor it, and her love, she changed her name to Sol, when it had been Sada, and added another tattoo to her collection- a tramp stamp of a stylized sun, like the light symbol. She may not be able to go out in it, but she can love it as much as she wants. It's only second to her love for Luna.
