Dungeons & Dragons vote

So Stef and I have been discussing races in DnD 5e, and we are not sure whether or not to stick with the standard races (Will be listed below) or make some of our own. The problem with making our own is that there are balancing issues sometimes.
Standard races are:
Humans
Elves,
Dwarfs,
Halflings,
Gnomes,
Dragonborn (Essentially dragon humanoids),
Half Orc,
Half Elf,
Tiefling (Essentially a Half Devil).

There are subraces in the mix, but there are too many to write out currently.

I'm good with either, so we'll leave it up to all pf you! If we do standard, I'll be a tiefling or drow, most likely.
